At the heart of it is the archaic, throwback Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a dreadful, irresponsible machine with no redeeming social qualities -- mechanical pornography to decent folk -- that simply won't go away despite the sheer, outrageous blat of its fuming exhaust in the face of seamless technology and the orderly, opulent, but essentially soulless brave new world.
